It’s the vernal equinox in the Southern hemisphere today. A time to reflect on finding balance in my life. Work/life balance, to be precise.
Death came knocking at our door last week. And it brought out dramatically different traits in my two kids.
There’s a battle of wills being fought at the Rodericks’ residence and I’ve broken the first commandment of parenting warfare: Do NOT negotiate with terrorists little children.
I give up. Believe me, I tried.
Turns out, I’m not cut out to be the FUN parent.
Responsible? Helpful? Organised? Tick. Tick. Tick. What my mothering skill set sorely lacks is playful spontaneity. Maybe I hit my funny bone when the Man Upstairs was doling out the ‘make merry’ gene?
